Maximum weight: males 150 kg, females 110 kg

Features:

• plump
• small head with a slight forehead
• large eyes, set close together
• large external ear openings
• prominent whiskers
• short flippers
• long, thin, hooked claws

Colour:

• light to dark grey or brown back, but fading towards the belly
• many fine blotches scattered over the body
• pups remain a silvery-grey for several weeks
