Features:

• long, round body
• extremely bulbous forehead with a large dolphin-like beak
• pair of short V-shaped throat grooves
• broad flukes and a small, curved dorsal fin
• crescent-shaped blowhole located in an indented area behind the forehead
• conical teeth which erupt only in males - one on each side near the tip of the lower jaw
• colour: brown or grey which fades to a white or yellow in older males; usually lighter below; calves are uniformly chocolate brown
