Juvenile: mantle dark brown, with scalloped appearance; head, nape, and sides of upper breast brown, and only faintly streaked, with white throat, forehead, and eyebrow, and dark line through eye; central breast, belly, flanks, and undertail coverts white; bill and legs as in adults
