aurora - from the Latin word for "dawn", referring to the underside colour of the hind legs

A colourful frog of the west!

Along with wood frogs and spotted frogs, this species is part of a group known as brown frogs, because their skin can be brown, grey or reddish, but never green! They get their common name from the colourful underside of the adults.
