Hyla - derived from the Greek word hyle meaning forest

The loudest in the west!

As its name suggests, the Pacific treefrog lives on the Pacific Coast of Canada. For its small size, it has a surprisingly loud call and often drowns out other calling frogs in the area! It is the only treefrog in British Columbia. There is debate over whether this frog belongs in the genus Hyla, or the genus Pseudacris.
