A shy salamander?
This species is named for the yellow spots on either side of its body. The yellow-spotted salamander has a secretive nature as it spends much of its time burrowing underground during the day, as well as hibernating over the winter. The distinctive yellow spots along the sides allow for the easy identification of this species.
