Brief synopsis of current research:
We are assessing the potential of entomopathogenic digenean parasites as agents in the biological control of mosquitoes. these parasites are produced asexually in the tissues of aquatic snails and are released daily by the thousands into the aquatic environment for the duration of the host's lifespan. The parasites then penetrate and kill mosquito larvae. These parasites can be introduced experimentally in high numbers into natural snail populations to control mosquito larvae that share their environment.
