Place of Birth: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Public School attended: Elementary School in Ottawa
High School attended: Lachine High School Montreal
Further Education: Dalhousie University (B.Sc. - 1964, Physics; M.Sc. - 1966, Physics), Cambridge University (Ph.D. - 1970, Marine Geophysics).)
Geographic focus of research: Canada's eastern and northern continental margins and adjacent landmass and ocean basins, all western Europe with Atlantic waaterfront, all other countries globally with rifted continental margins.

Brief synopsis of current research:
My work is concerned with the structure of the earth's crust and upper mantle across rifted continental margins. I use seismic imaging methods and gravity and magnetic measurements to determine the structure. Computer models of the evolution of the margins are developed which satisfy these observations and which help us to predict other properties of the margins, such as their thermal history.
