National Hydrology Research Centre (NHRC)

National Hydrology Research Centre

When Environment Canada (EC) and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) split in 1978, the National Water Research Institute (NWRI) came into being. The National Hydrology Research Centre (NHRC) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was established in 1986 to oversee the monitoring of stream and river levels at sites across Canada. Although based in Saskatchewan, the administrative headquarters for the NHRC is the NWRI laboratories in Burlington, Ontario.
