Fisheries Centre (FC)
Established in 1993 at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, the FC is involved in the multidisciplinary study of fisheries. To evaluate the impacts of human and natural processes on fishery resources, areas studied include biology, oceanography, economics, engineering, mathematics, sociology, and planning and policy. Fisheries, watershed and ecosystem management, and policy issues are assessed. As well, methods of rebuilding depleted fisheries resources and the conservation of endangered species in marine and freshwater environments are studied. The work of the FC includes academic research, commercial contracts, sponsorship of seminars, workshops and publications.
