Established in 1964 at Memorial University in Newfoundland, the FMI has developed into a state-of-the-art industrial complex. Focusing on education and training, applied research and marine technology, the FMI is a world-class Centre of Excellence. Its education and training programmes are aimed at developing, applying and transforming new technology to fisheries and marine industries including offshore petroleum initiatives.
