Great Lakes Fisheries Commission (GLFC)

In 1955 the GLFC was formed between Canada and the United States by the Convention on Great Lakes Fisheries. The goals of the Commission are to coordinate research between the two countries to discover methods to allow the sustained productivity of fisheries and healthy ecosystems, and to develop methods of reducing and controlling sea lamprey populations. The GLFC also provides funding for projects with policy or management relevance.
