Axelrod Institute of Ichthyology
Axelrod Institute of Icthyology
Established in 1990 at the University of Guelph in Ontario, the Axelrod Institute of Ichthyology examines a wide range of topics in fish biology including endocrinology, behaviour, ecology, genetics, embryology, physiology, evolution and management. The facility provides office space for visiting scientists, editorial space, as well as cataloguing and research areas for the Axelrod Fossil Fish Collection. Two international journals, Environmental Biology of Fishes and Guelph Ichthyological Reviews, are edited by members of the institute. As well as the research performed at the Institute, it contributes to education through public talks as well as displays and presentations of fossil and living fishes.
